Stuart Jones Memoirs & Reviews

Brighton's very own multi-talented Attila the Stockbroker has recorded a new version of the old Piranhas' hit, Tom Hark, in aid of Brighton & Hove Albion FC's long running battle for a new stadium at Falmer. The single, 'Tom Hark (We Want Falmer!)' was released by Attila's impromptu outfit Seagull Ska and reached Number 17 in the Top 20 of the week beginning 9 January 2005. Have you bought your copy? If not, check out his website.

"The primary aim was to gain massive publicity for the Falmer campaign in the month before the Public Enquiry into the new stadium restarts. It was a hugely successful campaign, with national press, TV and radio, plus an airing on Radio One's Top 40 chart show." The Stockbroker added that Seagulls Ska will be doing the odd gig from time to time. Hope John Prescott has heard it and takes note. We here at punkbrighton fully supports the Falmer bid. Come on deputy Prime Minister, get yer finger out.

In 1980, Tom Hark was a one and only hit for the Piranhas, reaching Number 5 in the charts and earning our lads a silver disc for their efforts. Of course, everyone knows the song. It was previouly a big hit for Elias & His Zig Zag Jive Flutes. It first charted at Number 12 with a bullet, and shot up to Number 3, way back in June 1958.
